Where:         Grosse Pointe South High School - Main Gym

When:
         Typically, mid March

Time:           Varies by Age

Based on player's age on April 30th
Age 6:           4:45 registration.      Tryouts end at 6:45.
Age 7:           4:45 registration.      Tryouts end at 6:45.
Age 8:           2:15 registration.      Tryouts end at 4:45.
Age 9:           12:00 registration.    Tryouts end at 2:30.
Age 10:         4:15 registration.      Tryouts end at 6:45.
Age 11:         2:15 registration.      Tryouts end at 4:45.
Age 12:         12:00 registration.    Tryouts end at 2:30.
Junior, Senior, Big League

Junior League tryouts (ages 13 and 14) are typically also scheduled at Grosse Pointe South High School.

Senior, Big League tryouts (ages 15 - 18) are typically announced at a future date.

When:          Typically, late March or early April
Time:           Varies by Team
 
Team and individual photos will be available.
 
 
Field Day - There is lots of work to be done to prepare the fields for the season so please come help us!
 
We need parents and kids to get our fields in tip top shape for the season opener. 
 
When:  Typically early April
Time:   9:00 am - 2:00 pm
 
Food and beverages will be provided!
 
Field captains will be assigned to direct adult volunteers on areas needing attention.  Children volunteer activities will be more passive.
 
 
Opening Day!  Invite all your family and friends to come and help kick-off the season!
 
The celebration typically opens on the first Saturday in May with the traditional Parade of Teams followed by Opening Day ceremonies at Art Getz Field.  Here are some of the days fun filled activities:
  • Parade of Teams (starts promptly at 11:00 am, players should arrive no later than 10:45 am)
  • Opening Day Ceremonies
  • Singing of the National Anthem
  • Ceremonial First Pitch
  • Hot dogs, beverages and snacks
  • 50/50 raffle
  • Little League Baseball games
The Parade of Teams will be accompanied by the Grosse Pointe Park Public Safety Department.
 
 
Parent Party - Come and enjoy an evening of socializing  
 
When:  Typically the second Saturday in May, 7:30 pm (Membership meeting starts at 7:00 pm)
Where:  Tompkins Center at Windmill Pointe Park
  • Hot Dogs and Hamburgers provided by GPPLL
  • Beer provided by Atwater Brewery
  • Bring an appetizer, salad or dessert to share

Tournament Teams  
 
Tournament teams are selected to compete in the Little League Tournament.  Teams are announced towards the end of the regular season.  Players must play on a Little League Regular Season team to be eligible for selection to a Tournament Team.  Typically, the teams are as follows:
  • 8/9 Year Old District Team (Some years, there may be separate 8 and 9 Year Old teams for this tournament)
  • 9/10 Year Old District Team
  • 10/11 Year Old Team
  • 11/12 Year Old District Team
  • 11/12 Year Old International Team
  • Junior League District Team
  • Senior League District Team
  • Big League District Team
Second Season
 
Second Season is offered following the Little League A - Majors Regular Season.   
  • Provides a more relaxed style of baseball while giving players an opportunity to develop skills and enjoy the game through out the summer months. 
  • Typically starts in July and goes through mid August. 
  • Practices are typically held once a week with games typically scheduled twice per week. 
  • Roster sizes are expanded to accommodate family vacations. 
  • Players are placed on teams by Managers with the goal to balance skills and experience between teams. 

Players must play on a Little League Regular Season team to be eligible for Second Season.
